Learn More Major Investment in Wilmington Schools Governor Carney announced his budget proposal will include a $50 million investment to fund a new school on the east side of Wilmington to replace The Bancroft School – the first new city school in a generation. Governor Carney also is proposing major renovations to Stubbs Early Education Center and The Bayard School. Governor Carney will release his budget proposal on Thursday, January 30, at the Delaware Public Archives in Dover. Delawareans Deserve Clean Water Governor John Carney and legislators announced legislation that would invest $50 million for clean water across Delaware. The Clean Water for Delaware Act—sponsored by Rep. Longhurst and Sen. McBride—will create a Delaware Clean Water Trust to help rebuild Delaware’s drinking water infrastructure, prevent flooding in vulnerable communities, and keep contamination out of our waterways. John took office as Delaware’s 74th Governor in January 2017, focused on making Delaware’s economy more competitive, preparing Delaware’s children to succeed, and building a long-term sustainable financial plan for the State of Delaware. Working with Delawareans across the state, and with members of the General Assembly, he has made progress on each of those priorities. John has directed new resources to high-needs schools, partnered with the private sector to drive new job creation, and taken steps to lower healthcare costs for Delaware families, businesses, and taxpayers.
